If it's high health insurance costs or piles of unreimbursed medical expenses, Uncle Sam may give you something of a break. "If you were self-employed and had a net profit in 1999, you may qualify to deduct as an adjustment to income up to 45 percent of the amount you paid for medical insurance and qualified long-term care insurance premiums for yourself and your family."
